Prestigious NSF award supports continued development of innovative media intelligence software for government and political market
ALEXANDRIA, Va., — OhMyGov Inc., the creator of media monitoring and data visualization software for governments and political organizations, today announced it was awarded a $500,000 Phase II grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support continued research and development of its advanced media tracking and visualization tools.
The Phase II grant brings the total NSF investment in OhMyGov Inc. to $680,000. In October, the company also garnered a $50,000 technology investment from the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) in Herndon, Va. The NSF grant, provided under the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program, supports expansion of OhMyGov’s policy analysis platform and enhanced data modeling capabilities to better enable government communicators, politicians, and lobbyists to follow the spread of information — and misinformation — across the Web.
“The NSF’s foresight and commitment to innovation is strengthening small businesses like OhMyGov, allowing us to grow jobs and new technologies,” said OhMyGov Inc. CEO Andrew Einhorn. “The funding will better enable us to help users track harmful misinformation on the Web, uncover the impact of outreach efforts, and ensure critical government communications, such as public health and emergency messages, reach the public as fast as possible.”
OhMyGov’s media intelligence software, which doubles as the world’s largest government social media almanac, soft-launched this month as a Web-based subscription service at MediaMonitoring.OhMyGov.com. Organizations seeking to understand political messaging and influence on any group — from Congress or federal agencies down to subsets of the general public — can get detailed analyses prepared by OhMyGov’s Research division based on the data it collects on 50,000 agencies, persons and keywords.
